Abstract

The study assessed the factors influencing Irish Potato (Solanum tuberosun L.) output in Jos-South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study were to describe and compare the socio-economic characteristics of male and female Irish potato farmers; determine and compare the factors influencing potato output among male and female, and identify the constraints faced by male and female potato farmers. Primary data were collected through the use of questionnaires administered to 160 respondents selected randomly in proportion to the number and gender in each of the four selected districts. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. The mean age for male and female were 47 and 44 respectively.
